Subject Future plans

User-Agent: mmh 0.0-dev
------
Hoi,

one month ago, Juergen had asked me about my opinion on making the 0.3
branch stable. He would like to switch to the 0.3 branch in Crux.
Since then, although unrelated, the maintenance of the package in
Debian changed from me to Steffen (inne) with the help of Hauke (jhr)
and myself. The roadmap there is also to have the 0.3 branch enter
Debian in the next months.

This means I should react to the situation.

Hence, I plan to release a new version (0.3.5) within the following
weeks. This release is inteded to be the switch, making the 0.3 branch
stable.

What I want to include:

1) Olaf Buddenhagen has filed a critical bug agains the Debian
package. Of course I want to have that one verified and fixed.
Unfortunately, he hasn't provided further information yet. I've had
personal communication with him, but couldn't get much information. He
told me that he tries to provide additional information soon.

2) To satisfy my own needs, I plan to add an additional, more
powerful aliasing facility. It shall match glob patters on complete
addresses (not just strings on local parts). This will allow virtual
domain setups. I already have a basically working prototype, which
adds one conf option and about 50 lines of code. I'll push it as soon
as I've cleaned it up. Comments welcome.

3) I'd like to caseless vs. case-sensitive matching code. I've got the
feeling as if there would be some uncovered corner-cases. It would be
nice to check that.

4) I'd like to provide further examples, describing my setup,
particularly as it involves qpsmtpd. I believe that this would be a
valuable improvement to the docs.

I can't decide for (1), but the other three tasks won't introduce
relevant non-compatible changes to the 0.3 branch, and I don't have
plans for revolutionary changes currently. Thus, it feels good to let
0.3 go stable, as soon as Olaf's bug is covered.

If you have annotations or suggestions, please let me know.
